WEEKEND PAPERS: Property tycoon John Whittaker has built up a 4.6% stake in shopping centre owner Hammerson via his company, Peel Holdings.
The stake, said to have been amassed since February, is valued at £213m based on Hammerson’s current share price. Whittaker is said to view the property sector as cheap.
Whittaker also has a 27% stake in Intu Properties and there has been speculation about a possible merger of it and Hammerson.
