Barnard Marcus’ July auction makes £20.5m

Barnard Marcus raised £20.5m at its London sale on 25 July with a success rate of 61%.

A high street building in Billericay, Essex, with planning approval for redevelopment as five flats and a retail unit prelet to Costa Coffee, sold for £1.8m off a guide of £1.5m.

Three shops with 10 flats above in Bristol, with an annual rental income of nearly £97,000, was sold for £1m on behalf of receivers.

The catalogue offered 200 lots. Of 121 lots sold, 99 were purchased in the room and 22 prior to the auction at the Grand Connaught Rooms, WC2.

The firm’s last sale in June raised almost £28.9m at a success rate of 69% from 212 lots offered.
