Ministers plan for three-year tenancies

Ministers are looking at a change to the national planning policy framework to encourage landlords to offer three-year tenancies.

The change would make sure there is a strong expectation that build-to-rent projects should offer a three-year, family-friendly tenancy, a spokesman for the Department for Communities and Local Government said. How this will be done is still under consideration, he said.

Another change being looked at would mean councils plan for additional build-to-rent homes where there is demand for such properties, and enable developers to offer affordable rents.
