Tesla wants to plug in with UK landlords

Elon Musk’s Tesla is seeking to team up with landlords across the UK to install chargers for its electric cars.

The firm wants to double its public charging network in Europe by installing its supercharger connectors, which can power a Tesla for 170 miles of driving within 30 minutes, at service stations.

It also aims to install its destination charging connectors, which provide 60 miles of driving from a one-hour charge, at UK hotels, shopping centres and restaurants.

Tesla has so far installed 39 superchargers and 100 destination chargers in the UK.

Last week the government committed to banning the sale of all new diesel and petrol cars by 2040 in a bid to encourage the use of electric and hybrid cars.
