Asda reported a rise in sales in the three months to the end of June, its first quarterly sales increase in three years.
Sales rose by 1.8% during the period, as the retailer attracted 275,000 new customers.
A 16% increase in sales over the Easter period gave a strong boost to the figures – adjusted for the timing of Easter, like-for-like sales would have risen by 0.7%.
