B&Q and Homebase see sales drop

Sales at both B&Q and Homebase fell in the most recent three-month trading period, in part due to restructuring and in part to poor weather.

B&Q owner Kingfisher said like-for-like sales at the DIY chain fell by 4.7% in the three months ended 31 July; Homebase – owned by Australia’s Bunnings – reported a 4.3% drop in sales in the period to the end of June.

The Australian DIY chain plans to have 20 Bunnings pilot stores up and running in the UK by the end of the year.
