Persimmon reported a 30% rise in pretax profit to £457m in the six months ended 30 June, and a 12% rise in revenue to £1.66bn.
Completions were 556 higher at 7,794, while the average selling prices rose 4% to £213,262.
Chief executive Jeff Fairburn described the market as remaining confident, and said interest in its developments remained strong.
