Restaurant Group reported a 30% drop in underlying pretax profit, to £25.5m, in the six months ended 2 July, but swung to a small profit on a statutory basis.
Revenue was down 7.1% at £333.1m, but the company said it was making good progress on a turnaround of the business.
The group, which includes such brands as Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito, opened 12 restaurants and pubs during the period. It expects to open between 18 and 20 outlets this year, down from 24 a year earlier.
