Lack of supply means good news for Oxfordshire landlords

Following a relatively stable performance in 2016, office take-up soared in the first half of 2017 with 14 deals in excess of 10,000 sq ft and a total of 389,634 sq ft let, according to the latest figures from Carter Jonas.

The largest deal was at Oxford Science Park, where Oxford Nanpore Technology took 55,715 sq ft at the Danby Building. Science or lab space accounted for 77% of total take up in H1. In the industrial sector, take-up remained relatively stable at 741,757 sq ft. A lack of supply is driving rents and leading to improved lease terms for landlords. A typical rent is now around £10 per sq ft.
