Go-ahead for Edgbaston regen

Birmingham council has approved the £330m redevelopment of New Garden Square in Edgbaston, west of the city. Calthorpe Estates and U+I had submitted plans for a large mixed-use development on a 9.5-acre site on Hagley Road.

Big share sell-off for Pidgley and Redrow

Berkeley chief executive Tony Pidgley and Redrow chief executive Steve Morgan have sold a combined £103.2m of stock in their firms, with Pidgley selling 750,000 Berkeley shares on 8 September and Morgan selling about 25.9m Redrow shares.

Meadowhall set for expansion

British Land has received planning consent for a £300m expansion of the Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield. The leisure hall proposal will see 330,000 sq ft added to the complex.

Rushden Lakes delays warning

LXB Retail Properties has warned that there could be further planning delays to its Rushden Lakes scheme in Northamptonshire. The developer is working with owner the Crown Estate on the scheme.

Patrizia to buy Edinburgh’s Apex

German investor Patrizia is to buy Apex 123 in Edinburgh from Catalyst Capital in an off-market deal for around £28m – a 7.06% yield. The building offers about 90,960 sq ft of office space and an annual rental income of around £2.1m.
