Rosewood to operate Grosvenor Square hotel

Qatari Diar has appointed Rosewood Hotels & Resorts as the operator for its Mayfair hotel in the US Embassy building on Grosvenor Square, W1.

Qatari Diar will work with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts on the final design, ahead of the US Embassy staff moving into a new office in Nine Elms later this year.

Last year, Qatari Diar appointed British architect Sir David Chipperfield as the lead on the redevelopment of the Grade II listed building.

The approved proposal includes 137 bedrooms, five restaurants, six retail units, a spa and a ballroom with space for 1,000 guests.

Plans for the site also include making Grosvenor Square more open, removing the existing security bollards and barricades to provide additional pedestrian walkways.
