North American interest in European proptech companies reached fever pitch at New York Real Estate Tech Week.
Maturing proptech markets in the UK and across Europe, which have fuelled deals such as Fifth Wall’s investment in pop-up retail company Appear Here, have caught the attention of American VCs.
“There is so much exciting stuff happening in Europe at the moment,” said Zach Aarons, real estate developer at Millennium Partners and real estate tech investor at Metaprop NYC. “There is a lot of interest from here.”
Dan Hughes, director and proptech lead at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, added: “It has been great to see so many people here from around the world.
“Markets are local, but technology breaks down a lot of barriers.
“It has also been noticeable that US-based companies – both property firms and VCs – are becoming increasingly interested in technology from the rest of the world, particularly in Europe.”
