Henry Angell-James passes away

Henry Angell-James of Graftongate Developments has died.

A statement on the Graftongate website read: “It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely death of Henry Angell-James, who passed away on the evening of 30 October 2017.

“Henry was a giant among men and a true leader of the property profession, both at Savills and Graftongate.

“He will be remembered for being a true gentleman who had an eye for a great deal and who was thoroughly professional in every aspect of daily life.”

Angell-James joined Graftongate as a director in August 2004 after a 20-year career at Savills, where he headed the industrial and business space team.

He was heavily involved with the growth of the business worldwide, including in Europe, Asia and the US where he spent six months on a secondment.

During his time at Savills he also set up the mixed-use development team and was on the board for five years. He was also the commercial executive for five years.

In his spare time he farmed Jersey cows, among other country pursuits. He was also involved with the theatre and produced several shows.

In 2004, his production of Pete ‘n’ Me, about comedian Peter Cook, ran at the New End theatre in Hampstead.

The statement added: “Henry is survived by his loving wife Sally together with his children Jack, Will, Connie and Harry.

“We will all miss him terribly. God bless you Henry.

We will provide more details of thanksgiving services in due course.”
