Trinity and Beijing university form science park jv

A leading Chinese university has formed a joint venture with Trinity College Cambridge for a 375,000 sq ft development at Cambridge Science Park.

Tus Park, the science park development arm of Tsinghua University in Beijing, has teamed up with Trinity College to develop five buildings at the 150-acre park, including a 34,000 sq ft state-of-the-art bio-hub. The biohub will provide offices and labs for early state biotech and medtech companies as well as grow-on space for more established businesses.

The deal is understood to be valued at more than £100m.

The transaction forms part of Trinity College’s strategy for the science park. The college said that the investment deal also involved “deeper academic collaboration” with Tsinghua University.

Cambridge Science Park is home to around 1.7m sq ft of high-tech and laboratory buildings let to 85 companies.

Tus Park, through TUS Science and Technology, is the largest owner and operator of science parks and incubation facilities in China.

JLL acted for Tus Park; Bidwells advised Trinity College.
