Grainger’s Beresford to lead South Coast town development

Grainger’s development director John Beresford has left the company to take charge of the development of Welborne Garden Village in Fareham, Hampshire.

Beresford was at Grainger for more than 10 years, where he was in charge of the strategic land business and Grainger Trust, its in-house registered provider.

He oversaw the delivery of its more strategic schemes, including the redevelopment of Aldershot Army Barracks into 3,850 homes at Wellesley and 2,550 homes at its Waterlooville scheme Berewood Green.

Beresford will take on a managing director role at Buckland, which has now assembled almost all the land for its 6,000-home scheme on the South Coast.

The proposed garden village had been stuck in a decade-long planning battle with Fareham council, which had competing visions for the scheme.

However, Buckland has now assembled 96% of the land and submitted a planning application in March last year.

Grainger’s Waterlooville scheme included land owned by the Buckland Estate.
