Ex-Grainger director joins Osborne Developments

Ex-Grainger development director David Walters has joined contractor developer Osborne Developments to help set up its new PRS arm.

Walters, who spent 14 years at Grainger before leaving at the end of 2016, will become its head of its PRS team.

The business, previously a construction firm, has moved into direct investment and development.

So far it has developed more than 3,000 student beds, and Walters has been brought in to replicate that growth for the PRS.

Walters said: “One of the greatest opportunities to address this lack of supply is the potential for more integrated construction and delivery solutions to improve efficiency.

“We will be seeking opportunities to utilise our development platform to build, retain or sell both purpose-built rental houses or apartments, delivering construction efficiencies for the benefit of both the Osborne Group and new partners.”

During his tenure at Grainger, Walters worked on schemes including Apex House in Tottenham, N15, and Young Street in Kensington, W8.

He has sourced and managed 1,140 residential units across 11 sites, with a GDV of around £885m.

Privately owned Osborne was established in 1966 and operates mainly across Southern England and the Midlands.

It has 900 employees and a turnover of £350m per annum.

Its property arms works across residential and commercial property, alongside infrastructure and the public sector.

Its wholly owned subsidiary, Innovaré Systems, is a specialist off-site manufacturer of highly energy-efficient buildings.
