Marine insurers launch Tower Bridge development opportunity

The West of England Ship Owners’ Insurance Services has appointed agents to sell the freehold of its office at Tower Bridge Court, SE1.

Savills is seeking offers for the 68,090 sq ft office building, which has the potential for redevelopment with offices, hotel or residential uses. No guide price has been quoted.

Overlooking Tower Bridge and the River Thames, the building at 224-226 Tower Bridge Road is currently occupied by the marine insurer and is part-sublet to multiple tenants with a passing rent of £1.5m (£35.92 per sq ft), on leases expiring by July 2019.

Simon Tate, director in Savills’ central London commercial development team, said: “Tower Bridge Court is situated in an iconic position only moments from one of London’s most recognisable sights. With positive pre-application talks having already taken place with the London Borough of Southwark around the future of the site, the new owner will have the exciting opportunity to create a landmark development in this dynamic and popular part of the city.”
