Student accommodation provider Unite has appointed Elizabeth McMeikan as senior independent director and Ross Paterson as chair of the audit committee.
The appointments take effect immediately, and follow the death of Manjit Wolstenholme announced on 24 November 2017.
McMeikan joined Unite in 2014. She has significant experience in customer-focused businesses, which include Tesco and Colgate Palmolive. She is the senior independent director at JD Wetherspoon and chair of the remuneration committee at Flybe.
Paterson joined Unite in 2017. A qualified accountant, he is already a member of Unite’s audit committee, and works as finance director at Stagecoach Group. He also chairs the Audit Committee at Virgin Rail Group Holdings.
Phil White, chairman of Unite, said: “These appointments reflect our commitment to maintaining the best mixture of knowledge, experience and expertise on our board, following the tragic death of our valued colleague Manjit Wolstenholme.”
