Warning over runaway rail station costs

Painful lessons from the five-year redevelopment of London Bridge station must be heeded in the £4bn rebuild of London Euston for HS2, MPs have said.

The Commons transport committee’s warning comes after £900 million was added to the Thameslink project which has included the £1 billion London Bridge reconstruction.

The line will start running 24 trains an hour through the capital from north to south via the London Bridge hub, above, later this year. The project is so late that when it was launched it was originally known as Thameslink 2000.
