Trocadero plans set for green light

Revised plans to turn Criterion Capital’s iconic Trocadero, near Piccadilly Circus, W1, into a hotel featuring a rooftop pool are set to get the green light from Westminster’s planning committee next week.

Plans for a 593-bedroom hotel were granted consent in 2012, but the revised application includes a substantial refurbishment and change of use to create a 740-bedroom hotel.

A larger rooftop bar is also included in the plans.

Unlike the previous consent, a bespoke entrance on Shaftesbury Avenue is proposed, “creating an enhanced and welcoming environment”, says Criterion.

The rooftop bar, which will include a 17,500 sq ft bar/restaurant, a 4,500 sq ft outside terrace and pool. It will have a separate operator to the hotel.
