A bondholder group in Capita, the support services group that collects the BBC licence fee and runs London’s congestion charge, has hired advisers to look after their interests in the event of a restructuring.
News that owners of almost £1.6bn of its debt are preparing for the possibility of a drastic financial overhaul, first reported by Sky News, sent the shares falling. They closed 8% down, dropping 13½p to 155½p.
The support services sector has been in the spotlight since Carillion collapsed in January after running out of cash in the wake of cost overruns on a series of construction projects.
