Hyatt Hotels is to open a 153-bedroom hotel at Great Scotland Yard, SW1.
It will be operated by the Unbound Collection by Hyatt, one of the brand’s luxury arms.
The iconic building, the former home of Metropolitan Police Service, will be the first UK hotel in the Unbound Collection portfolio.
It is being developed in a joint venture between Galliard Homes and Middle Eastern-based LuLu Group and is expected to open in Q4 2018.
The building will be preserved throughout the renovation and will include maintenance of its original facade.
Peter Norman, senior vice president, acquisitions and development, Hyatt, said: “This brand enables us to team up with new owners and developers and furthers the foundation they have developed with their individual hotel brands.
“We also know guests are increasingly seeking authentic and one-of-a-kind experiences and have a desire to stay at properties that have a story to tell while creating new stories of their own and the Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand caters to this demand.”
Hyatt is also opening its second European Unbound Collection at the Nish Pals in Istanbul.
Additionally, the Hôtel Martinez in Cannes, the Párisi Udvar Hotel in Budapest and the newly renovated Hôtel du Louvre in Paris are all expected to open and become a part of the Unbound Collection portfolio by early 2019, creating significant growth for the brand in Europe.
