Manchester has a strong pedigree of music in all its forms.
The Sex Pistols played punk there, it played a role in the development of Northern Soul, it has spawned countless famous bands – Oasis, The Smiths and Elbow, to name a few – and is home to the world famous Halle Orchestra.
Manchester also hosts the biennial Manchester International Festival.
