Sheffield Hallam University has instructed Lambert Smith Hampton to find a development partner for a Sheffield city centre site that could deliver the city’s tallest tower.
The university and architects BDP have proposed to build a 37-storey tower on the site of the former Nelson Mandela Building.
It would include a conference centre, 205 flats and a 120-bed four- or five-star hotel. If completed, the building would overtake the 32-storey St Paul’s Tower to become Sheffield’s tallest building.
Adrian Lunn, head of LSH’s Sheffield office, said: “There are very few strategic development sites available in Sheffield city centre, so this presents an unparalleled opportunity for local, national and international investors, developers and occupiers alike.”
