Get Living reveals £180m Leeds build-to-rent scheme

Get Living has unveiled plans for its £180m build-to-rent development in Leeds.

The PRS operator plans to build 756 homes on Globe Road on the South Bank of Leeds, a 5-acre site it bought in June 2017.

The site has lapsed planning consent and Get Living intends to submit a detailed planning application in July.

It will be the operator’s first investment in Yorkshire. It manages 2,000 homes in London and has submitted plans for a £200m, 727-home development in Glasgow city centre.

Rick de Blaby, executive deputy chairman at Get Living, said: “Leeds is clearly fulfilling its wider vision and ambition at many levels, the manifestations of which are most visible in the central business district.

“With the council’s support through planning and statutory approvals, we are looking to create a development with a difference that will benefit the city for the long term by catering for the wide range of people who want to live and work in the area.”

He added that the area south of the River Aire and the canal could be “totally transformed” with modern mid-market accommodation on the waterfront.

As a whole, the South Bank area has the capacity for more than 4,000 new homes and commercial development to create 35,000 new jobs in Leeds.
