JLL has appointed Ian Guthrie as senior managing director in banking and capital.
Guthrie has spent the last 18 months as a senior adviser to JLL’s UK board and has more than 25 years’ experience in debt and equity financing, portfolio management and real estate.
He has completed more than £30bn of transactions and spent eight years as managing director and head of commercial real estate and non-core at HBOS and Lloyds Banking Group before leaving in 2014.
At these two firms he was responsible for a £23bn cumulative portfolio of distressed and non-core assets, including £8bn of hotels and £5bn of residential, across both the UK and Europe.
Since leaving he has undertaken board level and senior advisory positions including a non-executive role at the Industrial Developments Advisory Board, which sits within the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
At JLL he will work with domestic and international clients in the EMEA and UK capital markets.
Chris Ireland, UK chief executive at JLL, said: “Ian’s insight understanding of both financing and real estate ensures that our teams are able to provide solutions to investors that reflect both sides of the equation.”
