Revised Acton Gardens scheme adds 1,000 extra homes

Acton Gardens LLP, a joint venture between L&Q and Countryside, has submitted an EIA application in order to revise plans and substantially uplift the current planning consent.

In total, 3,466 homes are now planned on the West London site, an extra 1,116 homes on top of the original consent for 2,350 homes.

To date, 1,513 homes have been committed to (either built or under construction). The new proposals include four buildings of 12 storeys and two buildings of 15 storeys and 20 storeys.

Planning documents state the scheme has been designed “as an evolution of, and to sit alongside, those new dwellings delivered already as part of the original 2012 masterplan”.

“The development seeks to build on the success of the original masterplan delivered to date, introducing more traditional types of buildings which define a coherent and legible network of streets and spaces. The structure of the scheme is based on a permeable street pattern and a sequence of parks and public open spaces” it adds.

Plans going forward from joint developers L&Q and Countryside propose a mixed tenure that has an equal share between private and a mix of affordable tenures, in order “to help create an inclusive neighbourhood”.

Countryside and L&Q both declined to comment.
