Eversheds Sutherland has picked Aviva Investors’ Two New Bailey Square for its new Manchester office.
The law firm has agreed to take 45,000 sq ft at the 190,000 sq ft office building, which is being developed by the English Cities Fund – a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal & General and Homes England.
Aviva Investors confirmed in March that it had agreed a £113m forward-funding deal for the development, which is due to be delivered in 2019.
The office building is backed by Salford City Council, which agreed a 25-year long lease on the office space, paying around £17 per sq ft, to help bring forward the development and support future jobs creation. It did not intend to occupy the scheme and will sub-lease offices to occupiers.
Eversheds will relocate from its Manchester base at 70-76 Great Bridgewater Street, where it occupies the entire building on a lease expiring in January 2021.
Eversheds is advised by OBI Property; JLL and Cushman & Wakefield are joint letting agents on the building.
