Residential is the most attractive asset class for property investors this year as demand for offices continues to dwindle, according to BrickVest’s Commercial Real Estate Trends survey.
UK deal sponsors are more likely than others to target residential investment and avoid retail and office assets, although the office market continues to decline as a focus for sponsors generally.
Just 14% of those surveyed said offices were their preferred asset class – down from 18% in Q1 2017.
While capital growth is the main driver for investment decisions, liquidity is becoming increasingly important among UK and German investors.
