They come with a marble-tiled bathroom, a compact kitchen and a double bed, but a scheme to convert a Victorian terraced house into 14 micro-apartments that are smaller than a budget hotel room has caused controversy.
The serviced apartments in the four-storey house designed by Laura Encinas, of Bicbloc, are only 18 sq m, less than two thirds the size of a Travelodge hotel room at 28 sq m and well below the national minimum space standard of 37 sq m for a single person.
However, due to the location in West Hampstead, northwest London, each is expected to be in demand.
