First Panattoni to open Manchester office

First Panattoni, the world’s largest privately owned industrial developer, is to open a northern UK office in Manchester.

The company, which has completed more than 30 m sq ft of warehousing facilities across Europe in the past two years, has appointed Daniel Burn to head the new office.

Burn was previously development director at DB Symmetry, having joined the firm after 16 years at JLL, where he spent four years as head of the north west industrial and logistics team.

Panattoni entered the UK market last year following its merger with First Industrial and has more than 3.5m sq ft of development under way across the country.

The company plans to spend £525m on UK land purchases in 2018 and 2019.

In the North, it will focus on developing buildings of up to 1m sq ft along the M6, M62 and M1 corridor.

Matthew Byrom, managing director at First Panattoni, said: “The rapid growth of e-commerce and the ongoing structural changes in the retail sector have provided an unprecedented opportunity for growth.

“Last quarter, we saw the highest take-up of new-build warehousing in the UK since records began and we see the supply-starved North West and Yorkshire market as key targets for our business.”
