Lendlease sells Stratford office for £240m

Lendlease and LCR have sold a 278,000 sq ft office in the International Quarter in Stratford, E20, to DWS for £240m.

The building at Redman Place will be the new headquarters for Cancer Research and the British Council when completed in 2019.

The forward funding agreement follows L&G’s deal last week to buy and fund the nearby 300,000 sq ft government hub from Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield.

The International Quarter consists of £2.4bn of mixed-use development. Two residential towers are complete and 1m sq ft of office space is prelet.

The first two commercial buildings, prelet to the Financial Conduct Authority and Transport for London, were funded by DWS and Legal & General for more than £615m.

Unicef recently announced that it will move its UK headquarters to the International Quarter, taking 25,000 sq ft.

Lendlease and LCR will continue to manage the delivery of the building through the Stratford City Business District joint venture until completion, when management will transfer to DWS.

Dan Labbad, chief executive officer, international operations at Lendlease, said: “Once complete in 2025, International Quarter will be home to businesses and organisations employing over 25,000 people, as well as incorporating residential properties, shops, restaurants, bars and some unique public spaces.”
