Crown Estate boss to step down after eight-year reign

The chief executive of the company that manages the Queen’s £14.1bn property portfolio has announced she will step down after eight years in the role.

Alison Nimmo, who became head of the Crown Estate in January 2012, said she would leave the position at the end of December next year after completing her second four-year term.

Nimmo, the first woman to have led the 258-year-old company, is considered to have transformed the Crown Estate, updating its retail portfolio, regenerating the West End of London and embedding a commercial property ethic to rival the best of the private sector.
