This Land buys 20-site Cambridge portfolio

Cambridgeshire County Council-backed This Land has bought a portfolio of 20 sites in and around Cambridge that will deliver more than 560 homes.

The sites were bought from the council for £28.5m and are in both urban and rural locations, with a variety of planning statuses.

This Land, which was set up in 2017 to offer a “customer- and design-led” approach to development, says the sites will support a range of mixed-use schemes.

While backed by the council, the company is an arms-length development vehicle, with the council expecting significant returns and taking no role in its day-to-day operation.

The new sites include a mixed-use scheme at Soham Northern Gateway, a residential development at land adjacent to Hereward Hall, and a range of sites in surrounding villages – including Brampton, Foxton, Wicken, Guilden Morden and Litlington.

This Land has identified a number of other sites that will increase the portfolio by a further 1,000 new homes.

The company says it wants to buy a range of mixed-use sites across the UK.
