The Lord Mayor for the City of London, Alderman Charles Bowman, joined 30 courageous abseilers last month to descend more than 150m down the façade of 22 Bishopsgate, EC2.
Launching from level 35 of 62 of the building, participants conquered their fears to raise £150,000 for The Lord Mayor’s Appeal’s three chosen charities: Place2Be, OnSide Youth Zones and Samaritans.
CBRE cycles across Spain
More than 100 CBRE employees, clients and supporters took part in the CBRE EMEA charity bike ride for global children’s charity Plan International.
Now in its ninth year, the five-day cycle through Spain began in Bilbao and finished in Santiago de Compostela. Participants cycled more than 700km and climbed more than 13,000m during the ride, which raised £100,000 for the Safer Cities programme in Nairobi, Kenya, which protects vulnerable young people.
Winning in Wimbledon
Wimbledon wasn’t all about tennis for chartered surveyors Andrew Scott Robertson over the past fortnight.
During the tournament the firm used its forecourt to help fundraise for Wimbledon Girlguiding and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. The firm doubled the total in donations received for each charity, resulting in both organisations receiving in the region of £1,300 each.
Galliford Try moves closer to £50k total
Galliford Try Partnerships has raised £1,700 to help the charity World Child Cancer at the Housing Manchester 2018 conference.
The funds, raised through a charity raffle, will go towards the £50,000 the firm has committed to raise for the charity this year.
World Child Cancer supports children with cancer, and their families, in nine programmes in Africa, Asia and Central America.
Evans reaches the top… again
Julian Evans, head of healthcare, hotels and leisure at Knight Frank, has successfully reached the summit of Mount Denali, the highest mountain in North America, as he continues his pursuit to complete the Adventurers’ Grand Slam.
The expedition raised more than £70,000 for The Matt Hampson Foundation, which supports young people injured through sport.
Evans’ climb of Mount Denali follows his summit of Europe’s highest mountain, Mount Elbrus, and his trek to the North Col at Mount Everest.
Golf fundraiser brings in £27,000
The Bewley Homes annual golf fundraising day at Sandford Springs Hotel & Golf Club, Kingsclere, Hampshire, raised more than £27,000 for charity. The event saw 37 teams of golfers play the 18-hole course and 190 people attend the evening dinner, which included a raffle and charity auction. The funds will be donated to children’s charity Sebastian’s Action Trust and learning and development charity, Breakthrough Learning.
DM Hall helps raise £40,000 for charity
DM Hall’s summer ball has raised more than £40,000 for its nominated charity partners, Alzheimer Scotland and Macmillan Cancer Support. Held at Edinburgh’s Prestonfield House, the event was hosted by Scottish entertainer and broadcaster Grant Stott, with charity auctioneer Alex Fleming conducting the competitive bidding for lots including a week on a 7,000-acre shooting estate for 16 and a diamond necklace.
A different kind of marathon
Newcore Capital Management is hosting a fundraising marathon for Oxfordshire-based employment and rehabilitation charity, Aspire, on 14 September. The race will see 50 teams of two kayak 26.2 miles along the canal from Banbury to Oxford. Prizes will be awarded to the leading fundraiser and the fastest, slowest and best-dressed kayakers at an after party and barbeque.
