Ned hotel owner Vevil drinks in spirit of Scotland

The group that owns property trophies including the Ned and the Wolseley hotels has made its first investment outside London with a derelict farm in Scotland that it is going to turn into a luxury niche distillery.

Vevil International, through an affiliate company, has bought Ardross Mains, a 19th-century, 50-acre farm with a loch in the Highlands next to Ardross Castle with plans to invest £18m in developing and operating a distillery.

The group has built a reputation for working with creative companies to reinvigorate historical buildings — such as its partnership with Soho House and Sydell Group that transformed the former Midland Bank in the City of London into the Ned, a hotel and members’ club with eight restaurants.
