Taylor Wimpey earmarks £30m to replace cladding

Taylor Wimpey has set aside £30m to cover the cost of replacing flammable cladding at some of its developments in the wake of a review sparked by last year’s fatal fire at Grenfell Tower in London.

Britain’s third largest housebuilder said that the majority of the provision related to a single development at Glasgow Harbour and covered the removal and replacement of cladding that no longer met updated rules on fire resistance.

Taylor Wimpey said that its developments met the rules at the time they were built, but added that it was “morally right” for it to bear the financial cost of the replacements rather than the residents.
