Fusion energy specialist Tokamak Energy has signed for a 46,000 sq ft research and office building at MEPC’s Milton Park in Oxfordshire.
The company, which aims to be the first in the world to achieve industrial-scale power from fusion, has taken the entirety of 173 Brook Drive on a 15-year lease, tripling its footprint at Milton Park.
Tokamak undertook extensive fit-out of the new office for its research projects and prototypes. Its goal is to upgrade a device known as ST40 to produce temperatures of 100m°C – seven times hotter than the centre of the sun – within the next two years to harness fusion energy.
Phil Campbell, commercial director for Milton Park at MEPC, said: “This is precisely the kind of business which complements the cutting-edge science and technology occupiers who stay and grow at Milton Park, and contributes to the thriving sciences cluster at the park and within the wider region.”
