Transport for London and residential developer Apartments for London have launched a partnership to deliver affordable homes across the capital.
Apartments for London will build homes over car parks and other available sites on TfL land, with planning applications for the first three developments – totalling 450 homes – expected later this year.
The plan involves using modular construction to build on sites that might not otherwise come forward for development, with a focus on delivering homes within 12 months of receiving planning permission.
This marks the latest deal in TfL’s plan to deliver 10,000 homes on its portfolio across London.
Graeme Craig, director of commercial development at TfL, said: “This partnership helps us provide affordable homes that London desperately needs, while generating vital revenue to reinvest in the transport network.
“Apartments for London offers modern, precision-manufactured homes, and working with such innovative partners we can develop sites that would not otherwise have come forward and deliver homes at a considerably quicker pace than is offered through traditional construction.”
