Lambeth Council eyes skyscraper on Waterloo Imax

Lambeth Council has identified the BFI Imax site in Waterloo as suitable for a tall building of up to 130 metres in height.

The council has included the BFI Imax among a list of eight sites deemed suitable for tall buildings in its updated Lambeth Local Plan, which is due to be approved by the borough’s cabinet on 15 October.

The BFI IMAX is owned by the British Film Institute and since July 2012 has been operated by Odeon Cinemas.

The cinema was designed by Bryan Avery of Avery Associates Architects and construction completed in May 1999.
