House of Fraser’s former chief financial officer joins CBRE

CBRE has appointed Colin Elliot, House of Fraser’s former chief financial officer, to head up its corporate capital markets business, part of CBRE Capital Advisors, as it aims to capitalise on the potential growth of the sector.

Elliot, who was House of Fraser’s chief financial officer from May 2015, carried out the refinancing and restructuring of the retailer prior to its acquisition by Sports Direct in August.

He has also held the position of chief financial officer at De Vere Group and Malmaison and was the international chief financial officer for Whitbread.

In his new role, Elliot will lead and develop CBRE’s corporate capital markets strategy, advising owners and occupiers of real estate on how to maximise the operational and financial value of their portfolios.

Richard Dakin, managing director at CBRE Capital Advisors, said: “Colin’s experience of working within a corporate occupier, along with his significant transactional expertise, will be invaluable as we look to expand our advisory and transactional capabilities in this sector.

“A sizeable proportion of UK real estate is owned by corporate occupiers and so we believe there is huge untapped potential, which Colin will be influential in helping us unlock.”
