The fear of a hard Brexit is creating a scramble for storage space at a time when the supply of warehousing is at its lowest in more than ten years.
Companies ranging from engineering manufacturers, such as Airbus and Rolls-Royce, to pharmaceutical giants, like Astrazeneca, to Premier Foods and Mondelez, the food and drink groups, have said that they are stockpiling before Brexit on March 29 because they fear disruption to their supply chains.
There is only about 27m sq ft of warehouse space available to fulfil this increasing demand and that could run out in less than a year, according to industrial property agents whose role it is to find warehouse space for businesses.
