Central England Co-op has invested £13.4m in new stores and funeral homes this year.
The sum comprises 10 new food shops and six new funeral homes, as well as the relaunches of 22 funeral sites and 30 convenience stores.
Geographically, locations in Derbyshire received more than £4m of this amount, while Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Nottingham and the West Midlands gained more than £1m each. In Yorkshire, the group spent £1m.
The sites launched this year featured energy efficient refrigeration techniques and LED lighting.
Further investment is planned for 2019.
