Charity and social: Hammerson hosts rampaging Leeds cyclists

The UK’s first Rampage cycle race has raised £3,500 for Land­Aid. The adrenaline-fuelled urban cycle challenge event was hosted by Hammerson in the car park of Victoria Leeds.

Riders competed in pairs in an uphill battle to the summit of the car park. The first rider of each pair to cross the finish line went through to the next round, with the heats continuing until only one rider was left standing.

The triumphant winners were Max Krasinski for the under 18s, Amber Hull for the senior ladies and Joe Pidcock for the senior men.

Among the spectators watching the cycling action was World Championship and Olympic triathlete Alistair Brownlee.

Falling for Roald Dahl

A pair of daring rural chartered surveyors from property consultancy Fisher German in Worcester have jumped 160 ft in aid of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.

Abbie Lewis and Lucy Gilbert’s bungee jump challenge with UK Bungee Club at Cliff Lakes in Tamworth raised £380 for the children’s charity, which provides expert care and support to children with serious illnesses and their families.

Moonstone Ball nets £100,000

The property industry helped raise over £100,000 for cancer charity Anthony Nolan at the Moonstone Ball.

More than 400 people attended the event at The Dorchester hotel in London on 7 December hosted by television presenter Joe Crowley and ITN reporter Martin Stew. The auction was undertaken by Jeffrey Archer.

The Anthony Nolan charity was set up in 1974 and continues its pioneering work in the fight against blood cancer and blood disorders to help individuals who are in need of a stem cell transplant.

Members of the ball committee included Simon Jones, Rebecca Runcorn and Jen Dunn of Lambert Smith Hampton, Margot Waddup of Wells Fargo, Jamie Scott of HSBC Real Estate, Geoff Egan of Egan Property Asset Management, Mandy Froede of Canada Life, Bryn Williams of Cushman & Wakefield and Clive Offord of Cofford & Co Property Finance.

Spreading the festive cheer

The property industry played Santa and spread the Christmas cheer over the festive period by donating to children in hospital and people in crisis.

Staff at Aitchison Raffety’s Hertfordshire offices gave gifts to children and their families spending Christmas on the Starfish Ward at Watford General Hospital.

Employees from Linden Homes’ East Yorkshire division helped support the Doncaster Homeless Outreach Service by supplying Christmas bags containing essential toiletries. Meanwhile, developments operated by the Western section of the company became food bank collection points.

DM Hall raises over £60,000 in two years

DM Hall has raised more than £60,000 for charity in the past two years. The funds raised by the efforts of the 230 partners and staff at the firm of chartered surveyors will be split between the charities Macmillan Cancer Support and Alzheimer Scotland.

John Albiston, DM Hall’s senior partner, said: “As our current relationship with two such worthy charities draws to an end, we are delighted we have been able to raise such a large sum for their operations throughout the country.
