Avant Homes has acquired a 12-acre site at Chesterfield Waterside for £36m.
The housebuilder seeks to deliver 177 homes in a new neighbourhood called The Park, replacing a former timber yard.
Subject to planning it would mark the first phase of construction at the £340m Chesterfield Waterside development, which is being led by Bolsterstone Group with Arnold Laver Group.
Avant has submitted a reserved matters planning application to Chesterfield borough council and hopes to begin construction in summer 2019.
Stuart Rowlands, Avant Homes Central managing director, said: “Chesterfield Waterside is a high-profile regeneration project and forms an integral part of the housing delivery strategy for the town. Avant Homes Central is proud to be at the forefront of these plans with our striking and contemporary proposals for a new community.”
Peter Swallow, managing director of Bolsterstone Group, said: “The deal with Avant Homes is the start of an exciting new phase in Waterside, one that I know the people of Chesterfield have been waiting for.”
Chesterfield Waterside is the third site in north east Derbyshire that Avant Homes has acquired in the last six months. The housebuilder also has developments in Woodthorpe near Barlborough, Chesterfield, and South Normanton.
