Swedish bank Handelsbanken has leased another 11,000 sq ft of space at AEW’s 101 Barbirolli Square in Manchester, taking its total occupation in the building to 51,000 sq ft.
Handelsbanken has taken the ground floor of the 87,000 sq ft building, where it already occupies the first, second and third floors.
Having been refurbished in 2018, 101 Barbirolli Square is now 60% let, with three remaining floors available.
Simon Barrett, executive director and head of asset management at AEW, said: “The letting of an additional floor to Handelsbanken is a fantastic endorsement for 101 Barbirolli Square, and underlines the attraction of the space we have created as we focus on letting the remaining space at the property.
“Moreover, the fact that the building has reached 60% occupancy within just five months of the refurbishment completing demonstrates the strength of the occupier market in Manchester, where there is a shortage of Grade-A office space.”
AEW is also undertaking a refurbishment of the adjacent 100 Barbirolli Square, which will provide around 115,000 sq ft of Grade-A office space.
Savills and OBI advised AEW. Handelsbanken was advised by Avison Young.
