New look for Camden’s Buck Street Market revealed

Teddy Sagi’s investment company Labtech has unveiled its vision for Buck Street Market in Camden, NW1.

Opening this summer, it will comprise 52 recycled shipping containers providing 12,000 sq ft across three levels that will house up to 80 independent traders, as well as a market hall and artisan businesses.

The revamped market next to Camden Town Tube station will also feature a roof garden, illuminated greenhouse and a communal space for wellness, including, yoga classes and botanical workshops, which is being created in partnership with a community-led scheme from Kentish Town known as Vegbox.

LabTech F&B commercial director Maggie Milosavljevic said: “Our plans for developing Buck Street will retain jobs on site as well as a market in keeping with the history of the area. Buck Street has been created to complement the existing Camden Market but will establish its own community of independent retailers, street food and social enterprises.

“Aimed at the ‘local consumer’ the new marketplace will provide a more diverse offering, convenient for visitors to shop, dwell or dine at, as well as community initiatives for the local neighbourhood.”

Labtech is also giving Hawley Wharf Camden a makeover to provide a 580,000 sq ft mixed-use development due to open in September 2019. It will provide 150 shops, more than 60 places to eat, 195 flats and 50,000 sq ft of co-working space.
