The biggest property event of the year will try to ditch its “boys’ club” image this week as thousands of investors, developers, politicians and bankers arrive in Cannes.
Efforts are being made to change the image of the MIPIM conference on the French Riviera after criticism of delegates for openly soliciting prostitutes along the Croisette, the city’s famous promenade.
The lack of diversity at the event was thrown into sharper focus last year as it came shortly after the Presidents Club scandal, where members of the property industry attended a men-only fundraising event at which hired female staff were harassed and groped.
