Rob Hadfield, former group director of property at Debenhams, has secured a role as consultant at shopping centre landlord Capital & Regional.
Hadfield had left Debenhams in December after eight years at the department store retailer.
As a consultant, he will work with C&R’s leasing and asset group and support its community shopping centre strategy.
Lawrence Hutchings, chief executive of C&R, confirmed to EG: “We are thrilled to have him on board. I have known Rob for many years, and believe his knowledge of the retail market and passion for retailing will be of benefit as we roll out our community centre strategy.
“Rob will assist in the leasing area, where he will work closely with our leasing and asset group using his skills to refine our approach to communicating the relevance of our centres to retailers, and his considerable contact base with a range of retailers.”
Hadfield’s previous jobs also include head of acquisitions at Costa, where he worked for a year until 2010. Before that, he worked at Debenhams as an acquisitions manager for five years, and at Flight Centre as property director for two years.
In January C&R counted three Debenhams stores among its seven wholly-owned retail assets, measuring a total of around 340,000 sq ft.
