Sales at Ocado took a hit from a fire at its Andover warehouse in Hampshire but the online grocer reassured investors yesterday, saying that its initial assessment of the reasons for the blaze show there is no long-term problem with its depots or model.
In an update that cheered the City, Ocado said revenue had jumped by 11.2% year-on-year to £404m in the 13 weeks to March 3, which it dubbed a “resilient” response given the scale of damage to the warehouse.
The fire last month completely destroyed the depot, which accounted for 10% of the online grocer’s total capacity.
